Venting as a Coping Mechanism
Accumulated resistance is something that can hide from us. Sometimes, it hides in the forefront of our awareness: we watch ourselves taking actions without realizing what we are creating. Stress effects our health, and sometimes we are unaware of times we are creating stress within our body. Resistance created by us being someone other than our unique and loved selves can start accumulating at any time. Emotional blocks can create energy leaks, leaving us tense and tired. Meditating can assist us in regularly releasing this resistance by untying our emotional baggage and letting it fall away.
If you hear someone "venting", often this is what is happening: without using other tools to transform or transmute the feelings one is processing, venting can keep us from imploding or exploding emotionally; however, regularly embracing feeling emotions which create stress and tension in the body conditions the body to go into this muscle-memory more regularly as a habit. Often then we re-create these emotional experiences and sensations in our lives. While venting is alluring because it seems harmless and we feel better afterwards, we can end up with a false sense of transformation and often grate on the people around us. This can create unhealthy emotional habits such as confronting people endlessly online and having nothing tangibly shift in ourselves or society. We feel like we've done something, but we've really just circumvented a course that would keep us from experiencing those emotions and situations in the first place. We're giving our energy and power away when we could be utilizing it for the Light of our own individuation to be empowered and enact change. In practical action, meditation can transform our feelings for a true reduction in the frequency of our feeling unpleasant emotions again and again. You and the power of your emotions are precious. You can be empowered to embrace and utilize this for your well being and the well being of the people and causes you care about. You can create a pathway that embraces your emotions and leads them into the Light of the relaxation of being and feeling loved. If you already are, more power to you.
